Italian kidnapped priest freed unharmed
An Italian priest kidnapped in Nigeria has been freed. Fr Maurizio Pallù was kidnapped two weeks ago after an armed robbery in the south of Nigeria, where he had been based for the past three years. Italian foreign minister Angelino Alfano said he was “doing well”.

Filipino cardinal Ricardo Vidal of Cebu has died at the age of 86 after a series of health complications. He was ordained a bishop in 1971 and retired in 2010.
